Warriors to hold training camp in Hawaii

The Warriors will hold training camp on the Hawaiian island of O’ahu in the first week of October, the team said.

For every NBA team except for the Celtics and Nuggets — whose schedules are impacted by their Abu Dhabi Games — media day is scheduled for Sept. 30, with the first day of practices starting a day later.

The Warriors have held training camp in Hawaii several times, making the BYU Hawaii campus — about an hour from Honolulu — their home base. The last time they trained in Hawaii was in 2007.

Training camp will be the first time the entire 2024-25 Warriors roster will convene together. Steph Curry and Steve Kerr have had busy offseasons with Team USA’s undefeated run to the gold medal at the Paris Olympics. Franchise icon Klay Thompson departed to the Mavericks, and the Warriors acquired Buddy Hield, Kyle Anderson and De’Anthony Melton in corresponding moves. The club also hired assistant coaches Terry Stotts and Jerry Stackhouse.

The Warriors’ first preseason game at the Chase Center is scheduled for Oct. 11 against the Sacramento Kings. They’ll also host preseason games on Oct. 13 and Oct. 18 before opening the regular season on the road in Portland on Oct. 23.

The rest of Golden State’s preseason schedule has yet to be announced.
