Re: Selling tickets back

Put this on the ‘Ticket Exchange’ thread leading up to the Reading game. Dead easy to list tickets for sale via e-ticketing but the option to list only came available on the Tues before, and the option to buy only came available on the Friday morning before the game.

I think we shifted all 350-400 that came up for resale in 24hrs, but they would all have been good seats (mainly upper Tilton/Kop). Those numbers will drop as we come out of peak holiday season.

Surely it would be better to open up Ticket Exchange as soon as all tickets go on sale - selling what would be empty seats in areas already fully open rather than the really annoying opening up of small sections at a time e.g GM Upper above away section?

Also , would non ST holders be more likely to attend if they could buy a ‘good seat’ (paying a few extra quid over normal prices), or not attend at all? Matchday revenue is now much more than ticket £ sales alone, so making better seats available earlier is more likely to get people back/spending in the bars etc.

ST holders will be re-spending the exchange refunds at the club anyway.

Be interesting to see what they do for Wigan……probably the same.

I think the current policy is for TE only to kick in when a game gets to sellout stage - that’s what TO told me for Reading.

I can understand that to a degree as the club then gets longer to sell less attractive seats, but when they drip feed sections like they’ve been doing of late it squeezes the time for people to purchase on TE, and the risk is they don’t then re-sell.

It’s also a matter of fairness too - why does someone buying today get a better seat than someone who bought a week ago when they were running out/ only ‘inferior’ seats left?

Personally, I think the TE seats should go on sale at the same time as everything else, with all seats released on day one (surely the demand is there now for the club to do that). It’s then just first come first served, but leaving buyers with a choice of paying a bit more via TE for a better seat, which most of the one’s on TE will be given vast majority of upper Tilton and Kop are sold out to ST holders
