Oesophago-gastric Surgery Team

Cancer pathwayWhen a patient has tests for possible oesophageal or gastriccancer, they begin on a pathway or journey that can sometimes lastmany weeks or months before the full series of tests and treatmentshas been completed. This is illlustrated in the diagram below.During this journey, there can be times when individuals withcancer, and their families, are waiting to have further tests, toreceive the results of those test, or to start treatment. We knowthis can be a very difficult time. There can be quite a lot ofuncertainty to live with. As a team, we will do our best to supportyou throughout your journey. You will be given a keyworker (one ofthe cancer Clinical Nurse Specialists) who will act as your pointof contact to update you about appointments, tests and treatments,as well as answering many of the questions that patients ask.
