Brooklyn, Queens beaches to remain closed due to dangerous rip currents

NEW YORK (PIX11) -- Beaches in Brooklyn and Queens will remain closed to swimming and wading on Tuesday due to the continued threat of dangerous rip currents, city officials said.

"A beach closure is in effect for all Brooklyn beaches, Rockaway beaches and Riis Beach," a Notify NYC alert said.

Lifeguards will be at the beaches on Tuesday to keep people safe, according to the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation.

The same beaches have been closed since the weekend due to Hurricane Ernesto affecting New York City's waters from afar.

"Do not risk your life, or the lives of first responders, by swimming while our beaches are closed," Mayor Eric Adams said Friday.
