Joe Biden sets record straight at DNC about 'anger' over Kamala Harris handoff

President Joe Biden took a moment during a raucous Democratic National Convention on Monday night to address reports that he's upset about being pushed out of the presidential election.

After the clock crossed midnight on the East Coast, Biden called it the "honor" of his lifetime to serve as president.

"I love the job, but I love my country more," he said, holding an index finger up to emphasize his point. "I love my country more."

As the crowd applauded the president, he addressed accusations — including those made by Donald Trump — that he's seething over how the hand-off to Kamala Harris happened.

"All this talk about how I'm angry at all those people who said I should step down," he said, to cheers of "We love Joe!" "That's not true. I love my country more and we need to preserve democracy."

Biden urged Democrats to vote in 2024, noting they need to keep the Senate, win back the House of Representatives, and "above all, we need you to beat Donald Trump."

"Elect Kamala and Tim as president and vice president of the United States of America," he said.
