'Night night!' DNC erupts as Steve Kerr hits Trump with Steph Curry-inspired dig

Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr channeled future Hall-of-Famer Steph Curry Monday night when he delivered former President Donald Trump a message at the Democratic National Convention: 'Night night!'

Kerr, who used to play for the Chicago Bulls in the 1990s alongside Michael Jordan, compared the "vibes" from those title-winning years to the DNC.

Kerr joked that he can already "see the 'shut up and whistle' tweets being fired off as we speak," but said it was "too important" of a moment not to "speak up."

"The reason I said, 'yes' to speaking here tonight is that as a coach and former player, as a former player, a son, a father, even a grandfather, and as an American, I believe in a certain kind of leadership," he said.

That includes dignity, speaking the truth, laugh at themselves, care for — and love — the people they're leading, and posessing knowledge and expertise, but with the awareness that no one has all the answers.

"In fact, some of the best answers often come from members of the team," he said.

Kerr then channeled his all-time great guard, as applause erupted.

"In the words of the great Steph Curry, we can tell Donald Trump: 'Night night!'" he said, borrowing Curry's famous gesture of holding an imaginary pillow to his head.

Kerr's speech earned a thumbs-up from Harry Litman, senior legal affairs columnist at the Los Angeles Times, who wrote on X: "Steve Kerr -- eloquent, composed, charismatic."

"A propos of nothing, and acknowledging how capricious and challenging political achievement is in California, this guy would make a great Senator," he added.

"lol love Steve Kerr," wrote Katie Phang, host of The Katie Phang Show on MSNBC.

"I love this so much!" exclaimed Polly Sigh of Kerr's dig.

"Night night," wrote former New York City federal prosecutor Preet Bharara.

"Steve Kerr just hit Trump with the Steph Night Night celly it might actually be over," wrote B.W. Carlin, founder of Bad Brain Digital Consulting.
