Gary Neville has concerns after watching Tottenham

The lack of quality backups across the pitch proved costly for Tottenham last season as Ange Postecoglou had to deal with a number of injuries to key players across the squad.

One could argue that the injuries proved the difference between Spurs securing Champions League qualification and being pipped by Aston Villa to fourth place.

However, Postecoglou himself has suggested that his side are much better equipped to cope with injuries this time out on the back of the additions they have made this summer (Sky Sports).

Neville is not convinced that is the case, with the former Manchester United man not overly impressed with the players that Tottenham brought on from the bench at the King Power Stadium when they went in search of a late winner.

After Spurs’ 1-1 draw against Leicester City last night, the pundit was asked to explain why he has opted for Chelsea finishing above the Lilywhites.

Are Tottenham lacking depth?

He told Sky Sports Main Event (19/8/24 – 22:26): “When the subs came on tonight, I think that could be a problem for Tottenham in terms of strength in depth. I think Ange talked about before the game referring back to last season. Look, Chelsea could easily be an absolute mess because they could be.”

When asked who has the best squad out of Spurs and Chelsea, Neville added: “I think Chelsea. I think that they [Spurs] look quite vulnerable.”

Spurs Web Opinion

I disagree with Neville’s assessment. I thought our subs were quite good when they came on.

Lucas Bergvall, Archie Gray, Timo Werner, Djed Spence and Richarlison are by no means bad options to bring on, especially considering that Spurs were without Yves Bissouma and new signing Wilson Odobert.
