'We're in dire need of help': Oklahoma Attorney General investigating contractor

EL RENO, Okla. (KFOR) — An El Reno family has been waiting since November of last year for repairs on their roof to start. According to the Attorney General's office, they aren't the only ones.

The owner of Trimaster Construction told News 4 he would be sending a crew to El Reno last week to finally start the job. However, the family said that still hasn't happened.

"I just don't think he ever planned on coming back. I'm sorry, I don't mean to cry," said Beverly Knight.

Emotions are at an all time high for Knight and her family.

They paid over $2,000 for a new roof in November, but said the contractor has left them in the dark for months.

"He came out and measured the roof on the house and said that he would be back the next day and we've never seen him again," said Knight.

Knight said the home has been in her family for years and it belongs to her brother and sister-in-law.

Nine months ago, the roof began to wear down so they contacted Trimaster Construction.

"The bedroom needs to be fixed. The ceiling's fallen and, you know, that's things that I can't do. I can't go over there and fix that," said Knight.

After running our original story, News 4 was told the Attorney General's Office has been investigating Trimaster Construction.

The AG's office sent News 4 the following statement:

We have received eight complaints about this business. One was received in 2021 and one in  2023. Both of those were resolved. The rest have come this year. One has been resolved and the rest are still open. The business has been responsive to our office.

As I mentioned earlier, anyone who believes they may have been a victim of contractor fraud is encouraged to contact the Attorney General's Consumer Protection Unit at 1-833-681-1895 or Oklahoma.gov/oag.

"It really does make me very mad that he has done this to so many people. I mean, he has ruined so many people's lives and they need to stop him," said Knight.

Knight said her sister-in-law is disabled and is currently in the hospital so she's been trying to stay on top of this.

"It has taken a big toll on her. She is worried to death," said Knight.

News 4 called Trimaster Construction again and were told the owner was out of the state and they would send a crew on Wednesday to start the job.

"I hate to say this, but hopefully somebody will see our story and help us because we're in dire need of help," said Knight.
