Sky and Freeview watchers lose two channels today in grim TV shake-up but there’s big change coming that makes up for it
MILLIONS of Sky and Freeview users will lose two channels from their TVs today in the latest shake-up to hit screens.
The duo in question are coming off-air mere months after launching.
But it’s not all bad, as some new channels are launching this week to replace them.
GREAT! Real launched in March as a destination for “genuine drama and authentic stories centred around real people and events”.
The channel was available on Sky and Freeview.
But the station, along with its time shift +1, are both closing down today, according to Sky’s TV guide changes.
The company that ran GREAT! Real is shaking up their offering as a result of the closure.
And you will notice changes as soon as tomorrow (August 21).
Sky has confirmed changes but it’s not clear what is happening with the empty space on Freeview just yet.
Where Sky is concerned, it means that Tiny Pop will return after going streaming only earlier this year.
POP Max+1 will move from 618 to 628 on satellite.
This will leave 618 free for Tiny Pop to take.
Meanwhile, Tiny Pop+1 will land on 629.
Pop Max HD is moving up one spot, from 214 to 215.
The free 214 number will go to Tiny Pop HD.
There’s also one other change – That’s Memories, on satellite channel 191, is rebranding to That’s TV 3.
NEW HIDDEN CHANNEL
Pop also has a lesser-known hidden channel known as Pop Up.
It launched earlier this summer and showcases a different theme each week.
Samsung and LG TV owners can access the free channel by via their streamed offering, or you can access it through the Plex app on other devices.
