Gamethread: White Sox at Giants

This short road trip heads way out west, where the games are late and the opponents tough

Before we get to whatever it is we get to for each of these gamethreads, a bit of roster tinkering. Matt Foster is rewarded for his excellent pitching all season and gets an attaboy for clawing back to the majors by being dumped back to Charlotte in favor of Yankees reject Enyel De Los Santos.

De Los Santos, 28, was claimed off waivers on Saturday and has gone 1-2 with a 5.79 ERA, 53 strikeouts and one save in 49 relief appearances this season with the Yankees and San Diego. He has pitched in six MLB seasons with Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Cleveland, San Diego and the Yankees and will wear uniform No. 62 with the White Sox. Perhaps he is going to be the stretch-run Bryan Shaw ’24, worked to death because the White Sox need innings and Foster still needs some protection.

Or, it’s just another goofy White Sox move.

Here’s the lineup behind Jonathan Cannon tonight:

It’s Harry Potter Night at the ballpark, which really seems like an odd choice, a progressive city/fanbase celebrating such a bigoted author, but hey, what do I know, maybe they’ll play quidditch or whatever the Harry Potter game is, instead of baseball tonight. Can’t hurt the White Sox chances any.

It’s a LATE game tonight, so coffee up if you want to keep up with the West Coast horrors: 8:45 p.m. CT, usual broadcast outlets.
