Rodrigo Bentancur suffers a concussion

The incident happened in the latter stages of the second-half, with Bentancur going down after a clash of heads during a Spurs corner kick.

The Tottenham midfielder stayed down for the best part of 10 minutes and there was plenty of concern in the faces of his teammates, as well as the opposition players, as he received treatment.

Thankfully, Bentancur was seen attempting to get back on his feet after treatment, although he did leave the pitch on a stretcher at the advice of the medical staff, receiving applause from all four corners of the King Power Stadium.

The Spurs midfielder now faces the risk of not being eligible for the Lilywhites’ upcoming clash against Everton at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday.

Bentancur may have to sit out against Everton

The Sun reveals that the Premier League’s concussion protocols state that players who come off with a concussion will miss a week of football.

In fact, the outlet points out that Brighton winger Yankuba Minteh will be unavailable for the Seagulls’ upcoming clash against Manchester United after coming off with a concussion in the 3-0 win over Everton.

It looks like the same will also be the case with Bentancur, although we are awaiting official confirmation on the matter at the moment.

Spurs Web Opinion

I thought Bentancur did quite well yesterday, which is why it will be a blow to be without him for Saturday’s clash. However, the most important thing is that the midfielder is alright as it could have ended up being quite nasty.

With Yves Bissouma back from suspension and with Archie Gray impressing in his debut, Tottenham should be able to cope with the loss of the Uruguayan.
