Rose Ayling Ellis is making history hosting the Paralympics for Channel 4.

In a groundbreaking move, she is the first deaf live sports presenter on British TV.

However, being deaf means she requires some studio adjustments behind-the-scenes.

Usually, TV presenters receive instructions from the director or producers through an earpiece.

However, this is something that Rose cannot do, so she has to resort to other measures to successfully present the show.

The EastEnders star and Strictly Come Dancing winner said: “I have so much respect for you presenters, it’s the hardest job I’ve ever done.

“I’ve got an autocue, a laptop flashing things at me and someone signing.”

Clare Balding

Clare Balding is an award-winning broadcaster, journalist and author who was born on January 29, 1971.

She comes from a family with strong ties to horse racing, and started her career covering the sport.

Between 1988 and 1993, Clare was a leading amateur flat jockey.

She won an award for her memoir — My Animals And Other Family, published in September 2012 — covering her time growing up in a racing yard.

Clare also hosted the Olympics 2024 for the BBC.

Ade Adepitan

Former wheelchair basketball player Ade Adepitan returns once again to host the Paralympics for Channel 4.

During his sporting career, he was a member of the Great Britain team that won bronze at the 2004 Summer Paralympics.

Ade was also one of the main presenters of the London 2012 Paralympics on Channel 4 and again four years later in Rio.

He also went on to work as a presenter on the BBC for the Invictus Games in Toronto, Canada, in 2017.

Over the years he has become a popular TV presenter and pundit and is often seen on our screens.

He was awarded an MBE for service to disability sport in 2005.

Paralympic swimming champion Ellie Simmonds is also part of this top line-up of presenters.

Over the years the gold medalist has become the nation’s sweetheart thanks to her impressive accolades.

Ellie was the youngest British athlete at the 2008 Paralympics in Beijing, and won gold medals in the 100m freestyle and 400m freestyle.

Four years later in front of a vociferous home crowd, Simmonds was on the money again, defending her 400m freestyle title with a new world record and also securing the 200m individual medley.

She also won silver in the 100m freestyle and bronze in the 50m freestyle in London.

Ellie defended her 200m individual medley title in Rio, winning her fifth Paralympic gold medal.

She was given an MBE in the 2009 New Year Honours, and was the youngest person to ever be handed this accolade at just 14.

In the 2013 New Year Honours, Ellie received an OBE for her services to Paralympic sport.

Rugby Union player Ed Jackson joins the line-up of presenters.

During his career, the former No 8 played for Wasps and Dragons.

The sports star is paralysed after he dived into a shallow swimming pool and suffered extensive spinal injuries in 2017.

While many people would have been left devastated and unable to cope with this news, that was never going to be the case for Ed.

He has defied professional opinion, climbing Mount Snowdon, and even the equivalent height of Everest on his parents’ stairs and managed to stay positive ever since the accident.

He competed all over the UK and the Channel Islands before he joined the F4 British Championship.

In 2016 – aged just 17  – he achieved three podium finishes in his first season.

But in April 2017, he was involved in what was described as one of British motorsports most horrific crashes resulting in a double leg amputation.
