Report: Spurs could get a financial boost as late move is on the cards for winger

The Telegraph’s Mike McGrath has revealed that former Tottenham winger Jack Clarke could leave Sunderland in the dying stages of the transfer window, which would in turn see the Lilywhites get a financial boost.

Jack Clarke is thriving at Sunderland

While Clarke was unable to impress during his three seasons at Tottenham after his move from Leeds United in 2019, the Englishman has come of age over the last two years at the Stadium of Light.

The 23-year-old was one of the best players on show in the Championship last term, with 15 goals and four assists in 42 appearances for the Black Cats (Transfermarkt).

That has now seemingly brought the winger to the attention of Premier League sides, with a late transfer allegedly on the cards for the Sunderland man.

Leeds could give Spurs a nice cash boost

McGrath has taken to social media to reveal that Leeds are keeping an eye on Clarke’s situation as they look to reinforce their wide areas before the end of the month.

The journalist adds that various Premier League clubs also hold an interest in the former Spurs man, adding that the attacker’s situation is ‘one to watch’.

If Clarke does seal a late transfer away from the North-East, Tottenham are in line for a big financial boost, with the North London club having a 25 per cent sell-on clause on the winger (GiveMeSport).

If Clarke is sold, one would expect him to go for a fee of around £15m or so, given his age and the fact that he is homegrown.

That sort of fee will see Tottenham earn a decent chunk of change of around £4m from the transfer.
