Watch: RFK Jr's running mate gives up the game

Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s running mate seemingly gave up the game by admitting they would consider dropping out of the race and backing Donald Trump.

The independent candidate is running low on cash and having trouble getting on the ballot in many states, and his running mate Nicole Shanahan claimed they were debating whether to remain in the race or pull the plug and throw their support behind Donald Trump.

“There’s two options that we're looking at and one is staying in, forming that new party, but we run the risk of a Kamala Harris and [Tim] Walz presidency because we draw more votes from Trump, somehow draw more votes from Trump," Shanahan told the "Impact Theory" podcast. "Or we walk away right now and join forces with with Donald Trump and explain to our base why we're making this decision.”

A fundraiser for Kennedy was shocked by Shanahan's comments, saying he was calling off an event he planned to host next month in Utah after hearing the remarks.

“That just absolutely killed fundraising," Jeff Hays, who's raised money for Kennedy, told ABC News' Will McDuffie.

Kennedy's staff confirmed that he had met with Trump last month in Milwaukee but denied that he planned to drop out, and he reportedly spoke to the GOP nominee about a possible Cabinet position and reached out to Harris to discuss the same topic but was rebuffed.
