Man arrested at Louisiana Delta Community College in Monroe for loaded firearm
MONROE, La. (KTVE/KARD) -- A man was arrested Monday after allegedly possessing a gun in a firearm-free zone on a college campus, authorities said.
John Hardy was booked for carrying a firearm or dangerous weapon on school property, at school-sponsored functions or firearm-free zone.
Police said a student reported that a white male dropped a loaded magazine inside the Louisiana Delta Community College bookstore on Monday.
According to the police report, officers contacted Hardy, who told officers he knew why he was there. Hardy was then advised of his Miranda rights and then allegedly told officers he had a handgun on his waistband. The officer then removed the Rock Island 10 mm handgun, which was loaded with one round in the chamber, according to the report.
Hardy also had a second magazine loaded in his left jacket pocket, authorities said.
Bond details were not released.
