Investigators on Tuesday asked for public assistance in locating Jaquez Hoover, who was named the suspect in the shooting deaths of Desmond Taylor, 27, and Ceilin Richard Peakes Smith, 36, at Aura, formerly known as Avalon nightclub, on June 14.

Columbus police asked anyone with knowledge of Hoover's whereabouts to call them at 614-645-4730 or Central Ohio Crime Stoppers at 614-461-8477. Hoover is considered to be armed and dangerous.

When officers arrived at the scene of the shooting in the 200 block of North Fifth at about 1:45 a.m., four victims were found suffering from gunshot wounds. Taylor was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:58 a.m. Peakes Smith was transported to a hospital, then pronounced dead at 2:45 a.m. Two more adults were transported to hospitals with injuries.

Authorities said the incident sprang from an altercation outside the club, leading to shots being fired. Police noted there were a lot of patrons at the club when the shooting occurred.
