Firefighter allegedly punched, concussed colleague at Bronx firehouse: DOI

BRONX, N.Y. (PIX11) – An FDNY firefighter accused of punching a colleague in the face at a Bronx firehouse was arrested Tuesday, according to the Department of Investigation.

Christopher Montero, 37, pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct related to the 2023 incident, earning him a two-day anger management course and a two-year order of protection with the victim, according to the department.

He was arrested Tuesday and also charged with assault and harassment, according to the Department of Investigation.

“By pleading guilty today, the defendant takes responsibility for his misconduct and has committed to anger management training,” said Jocelyn Strauber, commissioner of DOI.

Montero is accused of punching another FDNY employee in the face at a firehouse on Henry Hudson Parkway East on Nov. 27, 2023, according to the Department of Investigations. The victim was knocked to the ground and had a concussion, officials said.

Montero, who has been with the department since 2016, was given a new assignment at FDNY headquarters in Brooklyn.

“[Montero’s] behavior falls far short of what we expect of City employees, particularly in the workplace,” Strauber said.
