Patriots Rumors: Journeyman Pass-Rusher Joins Defense

The Patriots aren't allowing roster cut-down day -- which rolls around on Aug. 27 -- to prevent them from making additions.

New England is signing defensive lineman Kobe Jones, according to Doug Kyed of the Boston Herald, giving the 26-year-old a shot after his successful workout with the club Tuesday.

Jones is the definition of a journeyman, spending time with the Atlanta Falcons, Miami Dolphins, Tennessee Titans, Green Bay Packers and Carolina Panthers since entering the NFL in 2021 -- appearing in just two games total.

Keion White, Anfernee Jennings, Joshua Uche, Oshane Ximines and Deatrich Wise Jr. headline the Patriots' depth chart on the edge, but the addition can't hurt after they traded edge rusher Matthew Judon to the Atlanta Falcons last week.

Jones brings some athleticism to the group, having served on special teams for both the Panthers and Packers. The Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the CFL also used him on special teams earlier this year, where he played in six games and recorded one sack.

New England's roster is currently at 90.
