Tottenham fail to turn pressure into goals

The away side were extremely dominant in the first half at the King Power Stadium, with the game almost resembling an FA Cup third-round tie, with the Foxes happy to clear their lines as they faced wave after wave of Tottenham attacks.

However, the Lilywhites could not make their dominance count and only took a 1-0 lead into the interval and predictably Leicester made them pay in the second half.

Jamie Vardy scored against the run of play, ghosting into the far post unmarked to get on the end of a cross and turn it home from close range.

Tottenham could not find a winner despite pushing bodies forward at the end, with the newly promoted side holding on for a draw.

Heung-min Son and Romero receive criticism

O’Hara felt that Son did not do enough in the second half while Romero had a lapse in concentration for the home side’s equaliser.

The pundit told talkSPORT (19/08/24 at 10:15 pm): “Disappointing second half, Son wasn’t good enough and we should have put them to bed in the first half. Just watching the Leicester goal back.

“What’s Romero doing? The goal that they score. I mean, look, it’s a great header from Vardy. Where is Romero going? I mean, honestly, world-class defender, won the World Cup and an absolute shambles.”

Spurs Web Opinion

You cannot blame Romero for not marking Vardy as the Argentine was concerned with a player in front of him, with Van de Ven being dragged out of his position.

Unfortunately, this is the sort of issue that happened time and again last season because Tottenham tended to push both full-backs up at the same time, which leaves us extremely susceptible at the back if the possession is turned over in the middle third.
