Fairground goers trapped in the air for hours after ride breaks down

Fairground goers were left stuck mid-air after an amusement park ride broke down in Skegness.

Emergency services had to rescue around 25 people on the Skegness Pleasure Beach ride the Super Trooper at around 6pm.

It was not until 8pm that everyone was confirmed to have been rescued.

Lincolnshire Police said they were ‘attending an incident at Skegness Pleasure Beach where a ride has malfunctioned and remains suspended in the air with a number of people stuck on the ride’.

They added: ‘Fire and ambulance are also attending.

‘We ask members of the public to please avoid the area whilst emergency services work together to ensure the safety of the people on the ride whilst they are being rescued.

‘No serious injuries have currently been reported.’

By 8pm everyone was confirmed to have been safely rescued.

The Skegness Pleasure Beach was first taken on by Bottons in 1965, with rides there including the Rock N’ Roller and Pirate.
