Man, woman arrested in recent Oakland double homicide where two others were wounded

OAKLAND — A man was arrested on suspicion of murder and a woman was arrested on an accessory charge in connection with a recent quadruple shooting that left two dead and two injured, authorities said.

A 34-year-old man was booked into Santa Rita Jail Monday on warrants for murder, attempted murder and gun possession. Prosecutors have not yet filed charges against him. He cannot be bailed out of jail but if charges aren’t filed by Thursday he’ll be released.

A 33-year-old woman was also arrested on suspicion of accessory, jail records show. Her bail has been set at $100,000, and prosecutors haven’t yet charged her either. Police are expected to bring the case to the Alameda County District Attorney’s office soon.

The pair were identified as suspects in connection with an Aug. 17 quadruple shooting outside an East Oakland apartment complex on the 1600 block of 83rd Avenue. The two deceased victims have not yet been publicly identified, pending notification of their families, police said.

The two survivors are still hospitalized in critical conditions, police said.

Authorities haven’t said how they identified the suspects, or named the exact motive. But a police news release says it all started with a “verbal altercation” that led to one person opening fire at a group of people.

The shooter fled in a vehicle afterward, police said.

Any witnesses who wish to contact law enforcement may reach Oakland police at 510-238-3821.
