Union: Finland should expand doctoral programmes to universities of applied sciences

THE UNION of Professional Engineers in Finland (IL) believes also universities of applied sciences should be able to offer doctoral degree programmes.

The union argues in its proposal that bringing doctoral programmes to universities of applied sciences would respond to the national need to increase research and development investments. If conducted in close collaboration with industry, it added, the change would also promote industrial productivity and competitiveness.
