Free music events in Nicosia

Nicosia Municipality is busy organising a diverse series of cultural nights in the capital, enriching Nicosia’s events agenda. From festivals to free performances in public spaces, events for all are coming up this August and the municipality is getting creative with it.

A DJ Workshop and Party will take place at the lower tier of Eleftheria Square on August 29. From 5pm to 7pm, a free DJ lesson will be given by VJ Tony Steel introducing all those interested in learning the basics of DJing to the software needed, the controller, music organisation, equipment selection and so on.

Afterwards, a party with DJs will take place until midnight and an open call was launched inviting DJs who are interested in performing at the event to keep the party going. Beginners and young DJs are welcome.

The event is part of the European Program Cities After Dark, funded by the URBACT programme, which focuses on strengthening the night-time economy and urban development of the city. The goal is to provide young DJs with the opportunity to showcase their talent. What’s more, all this happen for free.

Two days before the DJs take over Eleftheria Square, the municipality’s Summer Nights festival will present another music-filled night. Continuing to offer free cultural performances featuring music, theatre and dance, the festival organises a Greek music night on August 27, again at Eleftheria Square. The 8.30pm performance, another free event, will fill the heart of the city with entechno sounds and folk Greek songs.
