Red Sox’s Alex Cora Gives Special Moniker To Jarren Duran

Jarren Duran continues to make plays for the Red Sox in big moments, and it prompted Alex Cora to make a big proclamation about the All-Star.

Boston battled its way to a 6-5 win over the Houston Astros at Minute Maid Park on Tuesday. Duran hit a go-ahead home run in the eighth inning that proved to be the difference and helped the Red Sox gain ground in the American League wild-card standings.

"He's so dynamic and so good," Cora told reporters of Duran, per Ben DuBose of MLB.com. "Kaleb (Ort) was throwing the ball outstanding, and he just hits it the other way to give us the lead. He's becoming one of those guys that I bet people will pay to watch. You better get here early, because from the first pitch on, he can do something special."

It's been a career season for Duran, who not only was named to his first All-Star Game but also collected MVP honors at the Midsummer Classic. The 27-year-old leads MLB in at-bats and triples, and he leads the AL in plate appearances and doubles.

The Red Sox will rely on Duran again when they face the Astros in their series finale Wednesday. First pitch is scheduled at 2:10 p.m. ET with full coverage on NESN, including pregame.
