Michelin layoffs will impact Emporia plant

EMPORIA (KSNT) - Workers at the Michelin plant in Emporia will experience layoffs in the near future, according to local reporting.

The Emporia Gazette released an article Wednesday, Aug. 21 citing a statement from a Michelin representative of a series of expected layoffs which will impact the local plant. 27 News was provided the following statement from the company regarding the layoffs.

"Michelin is adapting to evolving market conditions and making some production changes that will require fewer positions at our Emporia facility. Based on our values of Respect, we are committed to support employees through this transition by offering voluntary separations and severance."
