SGBV: LAGOS DSVA TAKES AWARENESS CAMPAIGN TO IKORODU CDAs

The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) has taken its sensitisation campaign aimed at stemming the spate of Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) in the State to Community Development Associations (CDAs) in Ikorodu Local Government.

Executive Secretary of DSVA, Mrs. Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi, in her address at the event, stated that the Agency has renewed the sensitisation at all strata in the State as more reports fill in at the office.

Vivour stated that Community Development Association leaders, as gatekeepers of their different communities are in a vantage position to report cases of abuse in their different communities, adding that concealment of such could lead to a jail term.

She explained the Agency’s mandate on domestic violence, child abuse and rape, emphasising that anyone can access the support services and the need to report cases through the toll-free line, 08000333333.

Whilst distributing educational materials to the participants present, the Executive Secretary urged the CDA members to pass the message back to the people during their general meetings

An estimated number of 8000 persons were reached across CDAs like  Solomade, Kings Court, Etunrenren, Afuwape, Lowa Estate, Upper Lowa and Igbo Oluwa Lowa 2.  The team also reached Shamsideen mosque at Etunrenren, and others to spread the message

Officials that were on ground to receive the Community Engagement team were Alhaji Ahmed Etti, CDC Zone I Coordinator: Mr. Bolaji Odubitan, Lowa Estate CDA Chairman; Mr. Jaji, Solomade CDA Chairman; Mr. Matthew Oyenuga, Afuwape CDA, Secretary and Mr. Adeniyi Akere, Lowa II Vice-Chairman.
