SCOTT, La. (KLFY) -- A house was damaged in a fire today close to noon in the 300 block of Latin Drive, officials said.

Scott Volunteer Fire Department Firefighters said when they entered the house, they found the living room on fire, and they were able to quickly get it under control.

The reason for the fire was an overloaded outlet, authorities said.

Officials said the living room is the only room in the house that was damaged by the fire. No firefighters or civilians were injured as a result of the incident.

Carencro and Duson Fire Departments responded to assist.

Scott Fire Officials would like to remind everyone that if you are utilizing a window AC unit, place it on a dedicated circuit to prevent overloading and reduce the risk of electrical fires.
