'This is huge': World champion FlowRider looking to defend title in OKC

OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) - Lexi Barna is getting ready to defend her title.

“This is huge. I mean, I love competing,” said Barna. “I am the current world champion on the FlowRider.”

She’s one of dozens of athletes who will conquer the waves in this weekend’s OklaFlow Finals at RIVERSPORT OKC.

"So basically everyone has been competing all year round and this is the big event at the end,” said Barna.

Multiple judges from outside the state will come in to judge the competition. They’re looking for style, technicality, amplitude and how well the flowboarders use the wave.

"The competition itself is a pretty big thing,” said Barna.

The outlaw and professional divisions will compete on Sunday, Aug. 25, and the amateurs on Saturday, Aug. 24. If you want to “hop on board” and try it out, there’s still time to sign up

"We love amateurs to come out because they're the starting of the next generation of pros,” said Lucas Williams, Director Of Operations at RIVERSPORT Foundation. “Everyone falls. Even the pros fall. So it's a fun thing to watch."

After the competition wraps up on Saturday there will be a screening of “Barbie” at RIVERSPORT’s Floating Films.
