Man, woman charged in freeway shooting near Hayward
OAKLAND — Alameda County prosecutors charged two people this week with multiple felonies related to a shooting on Interstate 880 in Hayward.
The Alameda County District Attorney’s Office filed attempted murder charges against 22-year-old Elias Nathaniel Jimenez and 43-year-old Maria Rosalia Martinez in the Aug. 6 shooting. The two also face felony charges of assault with a firearm and shooting at an occupied motor vehicle, court records show.
Few details of the incident have been released. The shooting happened along Interstate 880 in Hayward, and it targeted a vehicle carrying an adult and a child, according to the district attorney’s office. It was not immediately clear whether anyone was injured during the encounter.
Jimenez also faces charges of carrying a loaded firearm in public, as well as possession of a large-capacity magazine, along with several sentencing enhancements. He is being held without bail at Santa Rita Jail.
Martinez also faces a charge of permitting another to shoot from a vehicle. She is being held at the jail on $200,000 bail.
