Former Duck Bo Nix picked as Broncos starting QB in rookie season

DENVER (KDVR) – Denver Broncos Head Coach Sean Payton announced Wednesday that rookie Bo Nix will be the team's starting quarterback this season.

The 24-year-old Nix was selected by the Broncos in the first round of the NFL draft this year, having previously played for both the University of Oregon and Auburn University during his college years.

Payton said Nix has been "outstanding" when announcing the pick.

There's a ton of room for growth," he said.

Nix has already put down some roots in the Denver area, having purchased a $4 million home in the Castle Rock neighborhood of the Village of Castle Pines with his wife, Izzy.

The Broncos have won both of the preseason games they have played this year.

The team will play their final preseason game on Sunday, Aug. 25 at Empower Field against the visiting Arizona Cardinals.

The Broncos will officially kick off the 2024 season on Sept. 8 with a game against the Seattle Seahawks. They will then have their regular season home opener a week later on Sept. 15 against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
