Crews battle fire at Antioch residence, one person injured

ANTIOCH — The Contra Costa County Fire Protection District crew rescued a person from a fire that erupted at a multi-family home complex at Antioch on Wednesday afternoon, officials said.

ConFire spokesperson Lauren Ono said the rescued person suffered minor injuries and was transported to the hospital. A dog was also found dead on the scene.

The fire district received multiple calls at 1:20 p.m. from neighbors as they saw a blaze that erupted from the units on the second floor burning.

When the crews arrived, they found an active fire in the middle unit. The two units next to it were also affected due to fire and water damages.

Ono said the fire originated from the middle unit and that unit had suffered extensive damages.

As of 4 p.m., crew were still on location clearing out the scene.

“The cause of the fire is under investigation,” said Ono.
