Beyonce Debuts New Whisky Brand With Meaningful Name & Backstory

Beyonce is the latest star to dip her toes in the liquor business.

On Tuesday (August 20), the “Dangerously in Love” diva revealed that she had partnered with Moet Hennessy to launch a new whisky brand named SirDavis.

The project is a tribute to her home state of Texas (where it is bottled), and its name pays tribute to someone special in her life.

According to a press release shared with People, SirDavis is named after Beyonce‘s great-grandfather, Davis Hogue, who was a moonshiner through the Prohibition.

Davis had a reputation for hiding whisky for his friends and family to enjoy at a time when drinking alcohol was not legal.

“When I discovered that my great-grandfather had been a moonshine man, it felt like my love for whisky was fated. SirDavis is a way for me to pay homage to him, uniting us through a new shared legacy,” she explained.

Beyonce added that she spent “years” working on the brand launch, which follows the launch of her haircare brand CECRED earlier this year.

SirDavis will retail for $89, and you can preorder it on the brand’s website. By the sounds of it, a bottle will be worth every penny. It was already awarded the title of Best in Class for American Whiskey at the 2023 SIP Awards when submitted as an anonymous brand.
