Wilfried Zaha lined up for stunning Wolves transfer as Gary O’Neil looks to replace Chelsea’s Pedro Neto

WOLVES are joining the race to sign Wilfried Zaha after the club identified him as a potential replacement for Pedro Neto.

The former Crystal Palace star almost joined Everton earlier this month with his career at Turkish giants Galatasaray seemingly over.

Wolves are thought to be huge admirers of the ex-Manchester United ace and they have funds available to add to their squad.

It’s possible they could try and secure Zaha on loan until the end of the season with a view to making the deal permanent if he becomes a hit at Molineux.

Manager Gary O’Neill is believed to be a big fan of the winger and is behind the move — but it’s unlikely to be done in time for their weekend game against Chelsea.

Wolves aren’t the only club interested though.

Earlier this month it emerged his former club Crystal Palace were in talks with Galatasaray over a surprise loan move for Zaha

Zaha, who left Selhurst Park last summer as a free agent, emerged as a target for Palace after the departure of Michael Olise for Bayern Munich.

He has been made available for transfer after falling down the pecking order at Galatasaray last season.

The 31-year-old scored nine times in the Turkish League and even bagged one against his former club Manchester United in the Champions League group stage.

But he made only 13 league starts as Galatasaray beat Fenerbahce to the title.

Negotiations are understood to be ongoing over a potential season’s loan, with Galatasaray believed to have demanded about £9m to sell the Ivory Coast forward.

It remains to be seen whether Palace would be willing to pay such a fee for a player who made more than 450 appearances for the club after coming through the academy.

Across two spells with the London club, Zaha scored 90 goals and provided 62 assists in 458 games.

Leicester have also been linked with Zaha, who is believed to favour a move back to the Premier League if a deal can be struck before the end of August.
