Pep Guardiola is looking for a striker to back up Erling Haaland, and Kyogo is on his radar.

One fan wrote: “He can score goals, nothing else matters.”

Another said: “A completely different profile of player, both footed, and very interesting.”

A third added: “He scored against Atletico Madrid, Manchester City, Chelsea and Lazio, he is a clever player.”

It’s not just his goal scoring ability that has fans talking either.

Fans believe he would fit perfectly into Guardiola’s system – and are impressed by his history of trophies.

One said: “Kyogo isn’t a winger, he is a striker.

“He is Manchester City‘s replacement for Julian Alvarez.

“I am not sure Guardiola is open to losing the Premier League title.

“This guy is a serial winner.”

Another said: “I hate to say it but with his movement and goal scoring record, he’ll fit right in.”

A Celtic fan even added: “The amount of goals city score which are low crossed balls along the six-yard line Kyogo is perfect for that system.

“Technically he’s a better fit than Haaland, although Haaland is a better all round player.

“Kyogo and City is a perfect match, as much as I hate to say it.”

Manchester City got their quest for five-in-a-row off to a perfect start as they brushed Chelsea aside in a 2-0 victory at Stamford Bridge.

Erling Haaland was on the score sheet, but there was a lack of a proper striker to back him up off the bench.

Kyogo scored 19 goals for Celtic in all competitions last season, but is yet to find the back of the net in this years campaign.

The Japanese striker went down with a recurrence of a shoulder injury in Celtic’s 3-1 victory over Hibs on Sunday.

The extent of his injury is unclear, but Celtic have a more than adequate replacement in new signing Adam Idah.

Idah returned to Celtic Park on a permanent basis this summer, joining the club in a £8.5million move from Norwich City.

Celtic & City XI

Manchester City have targeted Kyogo Furuhashi as a potential replacement for £82million World Cup winner Julian Alvarez.

But the Japanese star would not be the first player to wear the Light Blue of the English Premier League champions and Hoops of the Scottish title winners.

Since the turn of the century, no fewer than 14 stars have been at both clubs. Here, SunSport looks at those aces.
