‘This is self torture’ people wince as woman’s tattoo tribute to late dad goes viral – and hundreds agree it’s ‘hideous’

THE “world’s most hideous tattoo” has been found, people claim.

One woman honoured her late father through a unique piece that’s so big it has left people wincing.

The anonymous woman’s body art takes up the entire inside of her forearm.

It includes an iMessage-esque text saying, “Dad I miss you” with a love heart.

However, also in the style of Apple’s messaging system, the small-print underneath the imaginary message reads: “Not delivered.”

The grieving daughter opted for the unique design as a tribute to her late father, who died in 2008.

The ink includes his birthday and death date across the top of the message.

A picture of the tattoo has recently gone viral on Instagram – and social media users are unanimously unimpressed with it.

“This is the most hideous thing I have ever seen,” one slammed.

“The artist that did this must hate you to have not talked you out of this idea,” a second claimed.

“I want to pull my eyes out,” a third groaned.

Another Instagram user referred to the tattoo as “self torture”.

Some critics feared the tattoo, due to its size and placement, will only trigger more feelings of grief whenever the daughter looks at it.

“That’s a depressing tattoo that’s in your face every second of everyday,” one said.

“My condolences but I won’t get something that’ll make me depressed tatted on my arm,” a second wrote.

“If this was my dad, I’d cry every time I looked at it,” a third predicted.

Tattoo Do's and Don'ts

    1. Think, think and think some more

Tattoos done on a whim are far more likely to lead to regret than a tattoo you thought long and hard about. Think about why you want what you’ve chosen. And if you still want it after a few months, then get it.

    2. Age restrictions apply

You must be 18 years old to be tattooed in the UK.

    3. Don’t haggle over the price

When you go to a tattoo shop the price is the price. You are paying for an artist’s time and skills, they charge what they believe those things are worth.

    4. Don’t get tattooed while you’re hungry

Eat before you go for your tattoo session and make sure you’re hydrated. You’re about to be subjected to a period of sustained physical discomfort, if you’re feeling a little weak from hunger or you’re dehydrated things will not go as smoothly as they should.

    5. Don’t drink alcohol before you get tattooed

If you are drunk or under the influence of drugs, don’t go for a tattoo. In fact, if your tattooist has anything at all about them they will turn you away if you are clearly under the influence of any intoxicating substances.  I’d also avoid drinking the night before, even a few drinks will thin your blood and make your bleed more.

According to the tattoo experts at Inkbox, people tend to honour their late parents through smaller designs.

“Incorporating a father’s handwriting, signature, or a meaningful quote can add a deeply personal touch, making the tattoo a direct link to his legacy,” they said.

“Symbols that represent a father’s interests, hobbies, or characteristics can serve as an indirect yet poignant homage to his influence and presence in one’s life.

“Sometimes, the simplicity of a name, date, or a combination of both can speak volumes, serving as a timeless reminder of a father’s impact and love.”
