Court remands man after 70kg drug bust

A Limassol court on Thursday remanded in police custody a 38-year-old man in whose car law enforcement officers earlier found around 70kg of narcotics.

The suspect had been arrested on Wednesday evening after police found the car hidden in an outdoors area in Limassol.

The narcotics stash was packed in two suitcases inside the vehicle. The various packages contained 10kg of cannabis, 60 kg of cannabis edibles (gummies), about half a kilogram of cannabis resin, 200 ecstasy pills, 150 grams of cocaine, and other small quantities of narcotics substances.

The 38-year-old is suspected of illegal possession of drugs with intent to supply. He has been remanded in custody for six days.

Police are also searching for a 21-year-old, believed to have driven the car during the last few days.
