NWS Norman offers free webinar highlighting Oklahoma storm chasing interests

OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) - Oklahomans who are still celebrating the latest movie release of "TWISTERS".

The US National Weather Service Norman says the movie has caused an uptick in storm chasing interests.

According to NWS Norman, since TWISTERS was released, they seen a lot of interest in and heard a lot of questions about storm chasing, storm spotting and how the movie portrayed the science of tornadoes.

The National Weather Service in Norman, is offering a free webinar that is set to showcase Oklahoma while digging into TWISTERS to compare how the movie portrays science with how it works in real life.

The webinar is scheduled for Thursday, August 29th from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The event is free and open to everyone, but registration is required to attend.

Attendees can expect basic information you need to be able to observe storms safely and to stay safe when real-life twisters threaten. The webinar is considered valuable information for those seek to learn more about the science of tornadoes, says NWS Norman.
