Sporting director in UK amid reports his club want to complete Man United deal - Sky Sports

Napoli sporting director Giovanni Manna is in England trying to close a deal for Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay, according to Sky Sports.

The Red Devils want to sell the Scotland international but have rejected bids from Fulham, who have since signed Sander Berge. The Serie A club have also tabled offers.

Napoli manager Antonio Conte admires McTominay, and Manna may hold talks with Man United concerning a deal for the 27-year-old.

The Old Trafford club are already preparing for McTominay’s exit despite his appearance off the bench against Fulham, with talks ongoing with Paris Saint-Germain for Manuel Ugarte.

Atalanta midfielder Ederson has also been linked, and selling McTominay will not hurt the squad depth available to manager Erik ten Hag as long as a quality replacement is brought in.

Cashing in on him represents pure profit in terms of Profit and Sustainability Rules as the Red Devils look to balance the books.

They have spent around £155 million on Leny Yoro, Zirkzee, Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraou this summer.

They could do with more sales despite making £49m from the departures of Alvaro Fernandez, Mason Greenwood, Willy Kambwala and Donny van de Beek.

They could be left with no choice but to sanction a loan deal with an option to buy for McTominay if the current bids do not satisfy them.

Man United could also wait until the final few days of the transfer window before lowering their demands for McTominay, and more clubs could join Napoli in the race.
