Second suspect arrested after massive drugs haul seized

A 21-year old man was arrested late on Thursday in connection with the seizure by police of 70kg of drugs in Limassol.

The suspect is the second person to be arrested in connection with the haul.

A Limassol court on Thursday remanded a 38-year-old man in whose car law enforcement officers earlier found around the 70kg of narcotics. He is being held for six days.

The suspect had been arrested on Wednesday evening after police found the car hidden in an outdoors area in Limassol.

The narcotics stash was packed in two suitcases inside the vehicle. The various packages contained 10kg of cannabis, 60 kg of cannabis edibles (gummies), about half a kilogram of cannabis resin, 200 ecstasy pills, 150 grams of cocaine, and other small quantities of narcotics substances.

Following the older man’s arrest, police said they were seeking a 21-year-old in connection with the case. He is due to appear in court later on Friday.
