TPD searching for suspects in North Topeka smash-and-grab

TOPEKA (KSNT) - Two people were caught on camera stealing a coin machine from 'Doughboyz Pizzeria' in North Topeka.

According to owner Trevor Burdett, the incident took place around 6:00 a.m. Aug. 22. Burdett said the suspects got away with a couple-hundred dollars at most.

He said the biggest pain as a businessowner was having to replace the broken door, signs and pay for all the damage.

"They definitely knew what they were doing, or they knew what they wanted," Burdett said. "As a business owner you always think of the worst in most cases. That's kind of like the weirdest thing. I mean obviously there's cash in there, so that's kind of an incentive."

Burdett is asking anyone with information that could help Topeka Police with the investigation to report it.

To report any suspicious activity or give crime tips, TPD can be contacted through their main line, (785)-368-9551, or via email at telltpd@topeka.org. Anonymous tips can be made through Shawnee County Crime Stoppers at (785)-234-0007.
