Pedestrian hit, killed by driver Thursday in San Jose
SAN JOSE – A driver hit and killed a pedestrian Thursday night in San Jose, police said.
The collision happened around 8:50 p.m. at Automation Parkway and Hostetter Road, in the city’s Gordy neighborhood, the San Jose Police Department said in a social media post.
The pedestrian – identified only as a man – was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office will release the man’s identity after it is confirmed and his next of kin is notified.
The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation, police said.
The death marked the 34th traffic fatality of the year on city streets. At this time last year, San Jose had recorded 31 roadway deaths.
