Beaute Cachee wins Chad Brown his 8th Ballston Spa Stakes

SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY (NEWS10) -- The Grade 2 Ballston Spa Stakes headlined Travers Thursday at the Saratoga Race Course. The trainer who grew up right near Ballston Spa, Mechanicville native Chad Brown, had quite the chance to score his eighth win in the Ballston Spa Stakes, with three of the four horses in the field.

Brown did just that, as Lanfranco Dettori was able to guide Beaute Cachee to the win, holding off one of Brown's other fillies, Gina Romantica, by a head. "She ran great," said Brown. "She had been training really, really well, and Frankie's really figured her out. I have to give him a lot of credit, along with my team who prepared her. He had to use her a bit early. I'm proud of her, the way she was able to back the pace down and still kick in the end and hold off a good filly."

It was a one, two, three finish for Brown, as Delahaye finished in third.

For Brown, winning the graded stakes race named after one of the local villages, and doing so eight times, is even more special. "Of course growing up here, not too far from Ballston Spa, it's a neat race to have so much success in," said Brown. "I've had so many good fillies over the years and I think it's a great race on the schedule. It's always Travers week through the years, it's always a race I've targeted and I feel fortunate to have so much success in it."
