Frank Lampard’s wife Christine ‘worries’ for major change if Chelsea legend lands new job he ‘couldn’t turn down’

FRANK LAMPARD’S wife is concerned about their lifestyle change in the unlikely event he is named England manager.

The ex-Chelsea midfielder, 46, has been out of work since his stint as interim boss at Stamford Bridge came to an end in May 2023.

Gareth Southgate’s departure following England’s 2-1 to defeat to Spain in the final of Euro 2024 has led to much speculation about his successor.

Lee Carsley will take charge on an interim basis for the upcoming Nations League matches against Republic of Ireland and Finland next month.

But the likes of Pep Guardiola, Graham Potter and Eddie Howe are being mooted as potential long-term appointments.

Lampard is among the candidates behind those leading favourites to be selected for the national team vacancy.

That is despite disappointing spells at Chelsea and Everton over the last five years.

And wife Christine, 45, a Northern Irish presenter who has fronted programmes such as The One Show and Daybreak, is said to be concerned about the possibility of him becoming England manager.

An insider to Christine told Closer: “The odds of Frank being named England manager have shortened in recent weeks and he is among the favourites to take on the role.

“If he was given such an amazing opportunity, he wouldn’t be able to turn it down.

“Christine will support him no matter what, but she worries about how much their life would change if he did get the job.

“She would need Frank to be sure that this is what he really wants to do.

“She knows how much he misses managing and wants to get back to it, but she is hoping it will be for another club right now, something that carries less pressure.”

Lampard, who scored 29 goals in 106 caps for England, has been in a relationship with Christine for 15 years, with the couple getting married in 2015.

Their daughter, 5, was born in September 2018, before they welcomed their son, 3, in March 2021.

Earlier this week, Lampard landed a punditry role with Amazon Prime for their new Champions League coverage.
