Love Island Jessy Potts fuels showmance rumours with Joey Essex as she reveals why she hasn’t moved in with him
LOVE Island star Jessy Potts has fuelled “showmance” rumours with Joey Essex as she revealed real reason they won’t move in together.
The couple has hardly been seen together since leaving the villa, with many fans suggesting their relationship is fake.
Joey, 34, jetted off to Ibiza with his famous cousin Chloe Sims, while Jessy remained in the UK with her pals.
Now the former account manager, 25, has admitted that she is in no rush to move in with the Essex and said the distance is not a problem.
Jessy spoke to The Sun at the exclusive launch of White Claw Vodka at Night Tales Loft, London.
She said: “Me and Joey are doing really well. I’m going to see him after this actually, and I saw him last night so it’s going really well – I can’t complain.
“Yes [he lives in Essex], and I live in south west London. Everyone thinks I live in Leicester, so it’s not too far.”
Jessy shut plans to move in with Joey for now and admitted they’re “enjoying their own space”.
The blonde beauty shared: “I still live with my best friend now, and obviously Joey lives on his own, so I can spend as much time at his as I want, and he can come to mine.
“So we’re not in any rush to move in [together] I think if you rush it, you will ruin it, so we’re just enjoying the process, and enjoying our own space, as well as seeing each other, and that’s what makes at special.
“I don’t want to ditch my best friend either too quickly, but in a few months we’ll see.”
Jessy met Joey’s sister Frankie and nan Linda during the Meet The Family episode in the villa, while Joey met her parents.
But reality TV star Joey has not reunited with Jessy’s parents since leaving the villa.
She went on: “Not outside the show [Joey hasn’t met my parents] – they’re still in Leicester.
“We keep saying we’re going to do it, but we’ve been so busy.
“When we spend time together, we just spend time together, but that’s definitely coming. He wants to meet them again, and they want to meet him again.
“They love him – they think he is so lovely, and they can see he’s got the best intentions.
“They do really like him, and they think he is hilarious as well.”
Sceptical fans are also convinced their nine year age gap could play a huge factor in their relationship.
But Jessy is not worried about the age difference and said she often dates older men.
“He’s 34, and I’m 25, but the age gap doesn’t bother me,” she stated.
“Everyone I’ve dated has been a 30 and above, so I’d rather go older as they’re more mature.
“Age is just a number at the end of the day, and we get on really well.”
During the series, Joey dumped former flame Grace Jackson for Jessy but continued to take digs at his ex.
Jessy revealed she’s still pals with Grace, despite Joey admitting he didn’t like Jessy’s friendship with blonde bombshell Grace.
She added: “Yes, I’m friends with all of the girls. I have watched myself back – I tried to watch it, and I love it.
“I loved going in there, I loved watching it back, and seeing how much fun we all had.”
Fans accused the couple of faking their relationship for the sake of airtime.
Whilst the pair got off to a good start after they returned to reality, their dates appear to have dwindled.
Joey didn’t attend Jessy’s homecoming party which was thrown for her by family and friends.
Joey also revealed that he was quitting the UK to find fame in America during an interview with This Morning.
One took to Reddit to remark: “Not one time did he ever consider the fact that Jessy may or may not come with him to America – and quite frankly, I don’t think he gives a damn if she does.”
“How will Jessy even get to America? Is she going to America?
“Logistically speaking, Jessy isn’t gonna stop her career to see her boyfriend filming on set for some reality tv show.”
However Joey hit back at the skepticism and exclusively told The Sun how he has “found the one” in Jessy last week.
