Michelle Obama Supports Gus Walz After Viral DNC Moment is Mocked

Michelle Obama is showing love to Gus Walz after his viral moment at the 2024 Democratic National Convention was mocked online.

The 17-year-old son of vice president candidate Tim Walz was incredibly moved by his dad’s big moment at the DNC earlier this week. Photos of him crying went viral online. However, some made fun of him for his display of emotion.

Taking to social media, Michelle praised Gus as an example of “real love.”

“I was touched to see Gus Walz’s joy when his dad @Tim_Walz took the stage last night. Thankful for you showing us all what real love looks like, Gus,” she wrote in a post on X (formerly Twitter).

The former first lady continued, writing, “Let’s be a nation that embraces this kind of warmth and vulnerability, instead of making fun or mocking it. We could all use some of Gus’s example in our own lives.”
