‘Still a little bit to do’ – Postecoglou on the final week of Spurs’ transfer window

It has been a fairly busy summer for Tottenham Hotspur, with a whole host of players leaving the club, and a handful arriving to join Ange Postecoglou’s squad. But, the manager admits there is still some business to be done.

More players leaving Tottenham

Postecoglou has managed to get rid of fringe players like Emerson Royal, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Bryan Gil, and Oliver Skipp already this summer. Meanwhile, deadwood such as Tanguy Ndombele, Joe Rodon, and Japhet Tanganga have departed, too.

But, the work is not finished yet, as Postecoglou has revealed to the press today (via Football.London), that more players are likely to leave the club before the transfer window closes.

He said: “Yeah look probably a couple more will go out, but we’ve done a fair bit of work over the last 12 months in terms of the squad.

“As much as the focus has been on getting guys in, we’ve changed the squad a fair bit, brought down the demographic a fair way.”

As it stands, Sergio Reguilon has been earmarked for a move away from Spurs (Fabrizio Romano), as have Giovani Lo Celso and Manor Solomon (The Times).

Another signing on the way for Spurs?

Not only are more players set to leave, but Postecoglou also hinted there could be at least one more new arrival before the end of the month.

He added: “We’ve brought in footballers who are more better suited to play the football we want to play moving forwards. So, there has been a lot of work done in that area from our perspective, but with a week to go there is still a little bit to do.”

Spurs Web Opinion

If we can get Reguilon, Lo Celso, and Solomon out, and bring in a left-back, I would be very happy with this window. We’ve made some smart signings, but most importantly we’ve cleared out pretty much every player we do not need, too.
