Kolkata horror: Protection is not the only answer

The public, unsurprisingly, was not impressed by these two solutions while the other steps-including more intensive CCTV monitoring, safe zones identified and created for women, separate designated rest areas with washrooms and security guards of both sexes at all medical colleges and facilities across the state-sounded more like just segregation and surveillance. They did not address the main issue, which is the deterioration of law and order.
