Man Utd now want to sign £29.7m star with 7.5 recoveries/game, Liverpool failed with bid last year - report

Manchester United are interested in signing one of Brazil’s promising young midfielders, according to TNT Sports BR.

The Red Devils have identified Manuel Ugarte as their priority midfield target this summer and talks are ongoing with Paris Saint-Germain to find a suitable agreement.

United could sign the Uruguayan ace on loan with an obligation to buy for £51 million.

Amidst this, TNT Sports BR claim that the club are interested in Fluminense’s Andre Trindade and there have been talks with the player’s representatives over a transfer.

Aline Nastari who covered the story added that it is ‘essential’ for the Brazilian club to sell Andre to raise funds. The midfielder is also prepared to pursue a new challenge.

United are yet to make a formal offer to the Serie A giants, but Fluminense are likely to hold out for at least £29.7 million including add-ons for the highly-rated star.

Red Devils could consider Andre if Ugarte deal falls through

Andre has established himself as one of the best defensive midfielders in the Brazilian top-flight.

He has been brilliant in the ongoing Serie A season for Fluminense. The 23-year-old has completed 95% of his passes with a long ball accuracy of almost 80%.

Andre has won an impressive 2.2 tackles and 5.5 duels per outing with 7.5 recoveries. The midfielder has all the attributes to succeed in the English top-flight.

In our view, United could contemplate an approach for the Brazilian ace if they can’t get a deal over the line for Ugarte, who has already agreed personal terms.

Sky Sports revealed today that there is no guarantee that the Uruguayan will join United despite advanced talks. United could see Andre as the fallback option.

Andre has been long linked with a move to the Premier League. London outfit Fulham were priced out of a move for him earlier in the current transfer window.

Arch-rivals Liverpool failed to sign Andre for £25.4m last summer. Fluminense did not want to lose him as they were bidding to win the Copa Libertadores title.
