Two people found dead after home explosion in Missouri
EXCELSIOR SPRINGS, Mo. -- Firefighters and other first responders are at the scene of a house explosion in Excelsior Springs.
The house explosion happened at Gabe Travis Circle and Kimberly Drive, right off NE 143rd St., near Excelsior Springs, on Friday morning. Neighbors say they heard a loud boom before 5 a.m.
Police, EMS and firefighters are working to find out exactly what happened. The Clay County Sheriff's Office is investigating a possible gas leak.
The Clay County Sheriff's Office said they located two bodies in the rubble of the home, believed to be the residents.
Deputies also found a dog that appeared to have been killed by the explosion.
A neighbor who lives over a mile away said the explosion shook their home.
Investigators have not found any evidence of foul play at this point. The Missouri State Fire Marshall’s Office is on the scene, working to determine the cause.
Representatives from the Missouri Propane Safety Commission are also at the scene. According to the Sheriff's Office, the house used propane.
Officials said no neighbors were hurt but some are reporting damage to their homes.
