Idehen and Roberston arrive

Derry City Football Club can confirm the signings of Duncan Idehen and Sean Robertson

Idehen, a 22-year-old centre half from London was recently released by Bristol City.  The 6 foot 2 defender is naturally left footed and started his professional career at Lincoln.  Idehen made his debut for Grimbsy in League 2 as an 18 year old and moved to Bristol where he made a handful of appearances for the first team.  Despite signing a two year deal with the Robins, Idehen spent most of his time on loan during his time at Bristol.  He spent time on loan with Carlisle, Yeovil and Bath City prior to his contract expiring at Ashton Gate.

Sean Robertson is a wing back or winger that was most recently with Forest Green Rovers.  The player has family connections to Ireland and started his career with Crystal Palace Academy, playing for their U-23 side before joining Forest Green.  Born in Wandsworth, he joined Forest Green after their promotion to League One and made 15 appearances in his first season, also spending time on loan at Crewe Alexandra.

Speaking on the new additions before departing for Waterford, City boss Higgins was keen to stress what he felt the two new additions would bring to the squad.

“Duncan is a left sided centre back with fantastic athletic and physical attributes with lots of opportunity for further development here in the League of Ireland.

Sean is an exciting attacking player who is direct and can make a difference in games.”

Idehen and Robertson have already received international clearance and will join Andre Wisdom as part of the squad for the clash against Waterford at the RSC.
